We’ve had some exciting things happen in last few months here at The Silverstrom Group, so we want to bring you up to speed and show you what we’ve been up to!

Meet Dr. Amy Tran

We are very excited to announce that Dr. Amy Tran, DMD has joined The Silverstrom Group! Dr. Amy has a unique interest in the total health and wellness of her patients and shares our commitment to a patient-centered practice. She approaches dental care with a commitment to providing solutions to oral health that will impact the patient’s overall well-being.

Dr. Tran completed a general practice residency program at Morristown Medical Center after receiving her dental degree from Rutgers School of Dental Medicine. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Rutgers University-New Brunswick, with double majors in Cell Biology and Neuroscience and double minors in Nutrition and Sociology. In a recent article from Inside Livingston Magazine, Dr. Tran shared her personal approach to dentistry:

“My approach is to help and serve the patient’s needs. It is part of my personality. Teaching and explaining the importance of screening underlies preventive dentistry. When the dental practitioner is attentive to patients, answering their questions, and providing detailed information regarding prevention, the process is beneficial to their dental health.”

Dr. Tran is a native of Queens, NY, and East Brunswick, NJ. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, painting, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends. She finds dentistry a wonderfully satisfying profession and is looking forward to meeting you!

The Silverstrom Group Gains Recognition for Philanthropy

The Silverstrom Group is honored to have received the 2017 “Great Oak Award,” presented by New Jersey Monthly Magazine in September 2017. The “Great Oak Award” honors businesses with strong Jersey roots and a deep commitment to charitable institutions and causes.

A panel of expert judges made their selections from a pool of fifty finalists from the entire state. The Silverstrom Group was then selected as the small business winner out of the ten finalists! Of particular recognition was the “Smiles for Life Award,” in which we partner with the American Cancer Society to present and donate an annual, $25,000 smile makeover to celebrate survivorship.

The Tooth Fairy Chronicles

Do you remember losing your first tooth? You may even remember hiding your tooth under your pillow only to find money in its place when you awaken in the morning. Many countries around the world have unique traditions to mark the loss of a child’s baby teeth. The tooth fairy legend is believed to have originated in the United States in the early part of the 1900s.

Tooth fairies all over the world leave behind a gift when they collect a tooth and each culture puts their unique spin on it. In Spain and other Hispanic cultures, the beloved myth centers on Ratoncito Pérez, a.k.a., El Ratón de los Dientes, the little mouse who likes to collect teeth. French children leave their teeth out for their own mouse, “La Bonne Petite Souris.” The tiny mouse will gather teeth left under the pillow, replacing them with either cash or sweets. Pillows are not the only tooth receptacle; South African children place their baby teeth inside of slippers!

In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month in February, we encourage you to send your favorite tooth fairy stories to the Silverstrom Group. We all have fond childhood memories, as well as experiences with our own children. The most endearing stories will be selected to appear in our newsletter, and yes, prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place! We are thinking of perhaps creating an anthology of these stories, and possibly printing a book that may be used for other children or for philanthropy. In any case, we’d love to hear your tooth fairy stories!
