Invisalign®
Cumbersome metal braces have been used for decades to straighten the teeth of adolescents. With Invisalign®, the latest in modern orthodontic technology, teens can now straighten their smile without the use of unsightly braces. The Silverstrom Group is proud to have not just one, but two certified practitioners for its Livingston Invisalign® patients. Unlike traditional orthodontic braces, Invisalign® aligners are made of high-quality clear plastic which is difficult to detect, and they are also removable. These ultra-thin straightening trays are custom-fit to sit comfortably over the top and bottom teeth, and are worn at all times except when eating, drinking, or cleaning your teeth. The Invisalign® trays gradually bring your teeth into alignment, and are replaced with a new set of straightening trays every few weeks to continue the process.
Sealants
Sealants are an excellent preventative measure that act as barriers for the teeth against harmful bacteria. Sealants are made of special tooth-colored resins that are applied on the back teeth, an area particularly vulnerable to decay in the cracks and fissures that form on them. A tooth treated with sealants is smoother and easier to clean, and looks identical to untreated teeth.
Porcelain Dental Crowns
When teenage patients crack or break a tooth, often as the result of sports accidents or other injury, it can make them less likely to smile. Porcelain crowns are a natural-looking way to rejuvenate a smile marred by damaged or misshapen teeth. Our crowns are crafted from quality ceramic materials that strengthen and restore your teenager's teeth while correcting their cosmetic flaws.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Dental cavities caused by decay can be easily repaired with tooth-colored fillings. One of the most common dental concerns for teens, tooth decay occurs when acids from drinks such as juice or soda combine with food or other bacteria and form plaque. Plaque erodes the tooth's enamel, which can result in sensitivity and pain. Our tooth-colored fillings are made of white resin composites chosen to blend naturally with the surrounding teeth. The strength and durability of dental composites surpasses traditional metal amalgam fillings, and allows your teen to maintain a natural-looking smile.
Professional Cleanings and Exams
Maintaining healthy teeth through proper oral hygiene and preventative care is the most important factor in retaining your teen's healthy smile. Daily brushing and flossing is key, but even with these cleanings plaque can build up, which is why it’s important to visit your dentist regularly for in-depth cleanings. Drs. Silverstrom also perform routine exams to assess your teenager for potential oral health risks they might encounter in the future, and inform you of ways to prevent them.
